January 2016 - Tracking the most popular programming languages, databases and software development tools in whoishiring discussion threads.
Based on years past, whoishiring is traditionally slower in January, so it's still early to make any assumptions about this data. But, seeing January with 395 postings compared to the peak last July of 901 does flag this as an economic and/or startup indicator to watch.
With another month in the top spot, Python continues its momentum from 2015. The top 10 as a whole is relativly unchanged, with only AWS making a significant jump to join.
The other big story remains React's ascension. It remained in the top 5, climbing to #3 after it's first top 5 last month. Interestingly enough, one year ago, Angular was in the top 5, and though it hasn't crashed and burned, Angular did have a down month. Can either React or Angular maintain this growth, or a will now front-end stack see rapid adoption this year?
Mobile is still waiting in the wings, consistently scoring top 5 placing with iOS and Android, but not yet dominating the top spots.
