July 2015 - Tracking the most popular programming languages, databases and software development tools in whoishiring discussion threads.
With 794 postings (as of this writing), July set a new all-time record for "Who is hiring?", just surpassing April's previous mark of 785. If only every first of the month fell on a business day, there'd be even more job opportunities posted.
Python is the top programming languagea for the third straight month and fifth out the past 6 months, a clear shift from 2014 where JavaScript dominated the top spot.
Mobile is another big winner this month, with both iOS and Android in the top 5. DevOps also makes a big move, as it has become a standard approach and concept for managing software in the Cloud/SaaS world developers live in.
Compare JavaScript, Python, Ruby and Java
Compare C++, Scala, Clojure and Go
Compare Rails, node.js, PHP and Django
After a big win last month, Node.js could not maintain its top spot and fell back behind Rails. In PHP land, it's of note that Laravel joined the Rising technologies with a significant gain year over year.
Compare AngularJS, Backbone, Ember and React
React has had a wild ride this year, but all in all, July's data reveals no big changes in the battle of JavaScript frameworks.
Compare Postgresql, MySQL and SQL Server
Postgresql continues its lead over MySQL, having beaten in every month this year.
Compare Mongodb, Cassandra, Riak and CouchDB
